We care about privacy and anti-piracy, security and performance, so we do our best to tweak the settings, enable/disable certain features, balance everything out against performance and usability and listen to you, our public, on what needs to be done.
From the initial version 3.5.0 we’ve upgraded the forum software and today I’ve completed the upgrade to 3.5.4. We’ve been running 3.5.3 with a security patch a bit too long.
A default policy for security has been applied since the start, and I recommend everybody to do the same for their forum. It also helps you fight piracy - for example, you prevent someone from gaining access to your copyrighted content.
We always:
* patch the software with security patches as soon as they come out;
* upgrade to the latest stable version of the forum software;
* delete the install/ directory;
* rename the default admincp and modcp directories;
* add .htaccess password protection to our admincp and modcp directories;
* backup (at least) daily online/offline;
* use hard to guess passwords which we change regularly;
* made admins undeletable users in the config.php file;
* analyse our web log files;
Anyway, I thought it would be nice to inform the community members that we are up to date and hopefully you’ll notice this with a better forum experience. Keep posting, keep visiting and don’t hesitate and ask a question.
